Let's Duette! We are presenting an exciting collection of Coro's Duettes, cunningly engineered brooches that come apart into two smaller clips. This particular example is missing the frame that hold the pins together, creating a fetching pair of complimentary fur clips. The birds are slightly different and one is a bit smaller than the other. Their long, curling feathers are cold enameled in peacock hues. The enamel also colors the leaves and bright flowers. The birds have bright red eyes and their silver-tone bodies are paved in white rhinestones. A fur clip is a brooch that fastens with two hinged prongs; the sturdy prongs are intended for wear on furs but will work well on any heavy fabric. The charming pins are marked "Pat. 116490." Made in 1937.
Emanuel Cohn and Carl Rosenberger established the New York accessories boutique Coro in 1901. In 1929, Coro purchased a manufacturing facility in Providence, Rhode Island, which became the world's largest costume jewelry facility.
